Sighting in Achères, August 5, 1979

Yvelines, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on August 5, 1979 in Achères (Yvelines, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

A witness saw unusual luminous phenomena in the sky between 11:00 and 11:30 pm. Gendarmes observed them as well. They were balls of different sizes and colors, shining to the left of the Moon. Some moved in jerks from left to right, at times at very high speed. They then disappeared into the clouds.

No other testimony was gathered about this phenomenon. The GEIPAN classified the case as C, because the available information was insufficient to reach a conclusion. The conclusion records the observation of three balls of different sizes.
