Sighting in Agen, February 15, 2011
Lot-et-Garonne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France
Sighting on February 15, 2011 in Agen (Lot-et-Garonne, France). After investigation, GEIPAN considers this phenomenon unexplained (class D).
What happened
A driver travelling along the motorway noticed an object they could not identify. It hung motionless in the sky. It was shaped like a triangle with three rounded corners, looked rather flat, and was greenish in colour, somewhere between grey and green. Since they kept driving, they saw it for only a few seconds.
No one else reported the phenomenon. When contacted by telephone, the witness said they regularly passed through that spot and had never seen anything like it there before. There is no photo or video.
GEIPAN considered the account fairly precise, but found it surprising that nobody else came forward. The case is therefore odd but not very robust, as it rests on a single witness and no recording. The object, described as hovering, matches nothing known, except possibly a kite or a hang glider, which would be out of place at that location. With no explanation found, the case is classed D: unexplained phenomenon.
