What happened
At around 6:45 pm, a witness out walking with their daughter saw a red oval shape in the sky with black rods that looked like feet. It came down in a field, rolled to the far end, then rose into the air. The witness then noticed it landing in front of the garage of their home.
The witness's spouse, who was in the kitchen, was surprised to see a red oval shape hop around the shed and stop in front of a tractor. Frightened as they approached, they went to fetch a neighbor. The two women then watched the object make successive hops in a wheat field, take off and vanish toward Castelnaudary. The neighbor said she had only seen a distant orange shape in the sky and gave no further details. No traces were found on the ground.
The first two witnesses made statements to the gendarmerie. The report, written the next day, described events consistent with a paramotor landing and taking off, possibly a two-seater: a red oval canopy, movement on foot, takeoffs in no wind. A video of a paramotor over a nearby village had been posted two days later, but it is no longer available. An on-site investigation by GEIPAN two years later did not confirm this hypothesis. The new testimonies differed sharply from the report: distances too short for the witnesses not to have seen or heard a paramotor, no more walking or legs, and a different duration. The witnesses themselves ruled out this explanation. The daughter and the neighbor could not help clear up the discrepancies. No hypothesis was probable enough and the testimonies were not consistent enough, so the case was classed C for lack of reliable information.
