Sighting in Annemasse, June 30, 2007

Haute-Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on June 30, 2007 in Annemasse (Haute-Savoie, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was a balloon (class A).

What happened

Toward the end of the morning, a witness noticed an object in the sky that puzzled them. Back at home, they found it was still there and filmed it. The GEIPAN investigation reviewed the video, and the footage clearly shows a tetrahedral balloon, like those used by the Météorologie Nationale or by scientists.

The case was therefore classified A: the object was a weather balloon.
