Sighting in Athis-Mons, August 24, 1979

What happened
A witness gave their account more than thirty years after the events, in October 2012. According to them, at around midnight they had seen a silver-colored craft that stayed in place but spun on its own axis without a sound, above electric cables in an urban area. No one else reported seeing the phenomenon.
A university psychologist carried out a detailed analysis of the testimony and found several inconsistencies. Because of these, it cannot be treated as an account of events that were entirely experienced. It is more likely a mixture of real facts and elements that were imagined or came from other stories, which memory may have blended together over the years. The GEIPAN also noted that adolescence is a period when false memories readily form, and that an investigation carried out so long afterwards would not produce reliable information.
The case was classified C because of a lack of reliable information, corroboration or other supporting elements.
