Sighting in Bailly, April 28, 2008

Yvelines, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on April 28, 2008 in Bailly (Yvelines, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was a weather phenomenon (storm, lightning, cloud…) (class A).

What happened

At around 4:10 in the morning, the witness heard a low, rumbling noise coming from the north-east. It gradually turned into a crash like thunder, which lasted five to six seconds as it passed over the house. The witness was frightened by it. The noise then moved away toward the south-west.

The GEIPAN investigation found that strong thunderstorm activity had been recorded that day in the area where the house stands. The noise the witness heard was therefore a clap of thunder caused by a violent storm. The case was classified A, meaning identified.
