Sighting in Bonneville-Annemasse, May 10, 2004

Haute-Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on May 10, 2004 in Bonneville-Annemasse (Haute-Savoie, France). GEIPAN considers the phenomenon probably identified (class B).

What happened

At about 9:20 pm, two witnesses, independent of one another, saw a luminous yellow-orange ball pass by very quickly. Their accounts did not fully agree on the direction of travel: one described the object moving horizontally, the other vertically.

Despite this discrepancy, GEIPAN considered there was little doubt about what had happened: the witnesses most likely saw an atmospheric re-entry. The case was classified B, probably identified.
