Sighting in Boulogne-Billancourt, December 11, 2023

Hauts-de-Seine, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on December 11, 2023 in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was a drone (class A).

What happened

At around 7:10 pm, the witness, in the middle of a conversation on the 7th floor of a building, noticed through the picture window five bright balls of different colors moving about in the sky. They formed geometric shapes and also followed random paths. The witness picked up their phone to film the scene, then stepped out onto the balcony to keep watching. No sound was heard. The objects appeared to be above the Parc de Saint-Cloud. The sky was fairly clear and there was little wind. The observation lasted about 10 minutes, on and off, before the objects disappeared.

GEIPAN rated the case as low in strangeness and good in consistency: there were two witnesses but only one account, along with videos of the phenomenon. The description fits drones very well: changes of color, coordinated apparent movement of the points of light forming shapes, and simultaneous switching on and off. An internet search showed that the following day a ballet of 1,000 drones took place from the Parc de Saint-Cloud, in the direction the witness had been looking. The organizing company, Magic Drone, was contacted by email, examined the photos sent to it, and confirmed that what was seen was a test run before that show. The case is classified A: observation of drones.
