What happened

At around 6 p.m., several witnesses saw a luminous ball in the sky with a multicoloured trail behind it. It crossed the sky at very high speed, travelling from south to north. The sky was clear, and the phenomenon remained visible for 15 to 30 seconds. One of the witnesses also heard a whistling sound.

Following its investigation, the GEIPAN classified the case as B (probably identified): the witnesses most likely saw an object re-entering the atmosphere.
