Sighting in Compiègne, August 9, 2013

Oise, Hauts-de-France, France

Sighting on August 9, 2013 in Compiègne (Oise, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At midnight, several people were watching shooting stars when they noticed a light grey, triangular object crossing the sky at low altitude, moving from the north-east toward the south-west. It made no sound, which surprised the group.

The investigation obtained only one account, and it was very brief. It lacked precision and detail, as well as key information needed to carry the study further. There was no photo or video, and no other witness came forward. The sighting might have been moderately strange, but the account contained too many vague points and gaps to judge its strangeness with any validity. The GEIPAN therefore classified the case C, for lack of information.

Account rewritten by SkyUnknown from the investigation report published by GEIPAN (CNES). The original text and case documents are on the official record.
