Sighting in Courbevoie, July 27, 2012

Hauts-de-Seine, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on July 27, 2012 in Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine, France). GEIPAN considers the phenomenon probably identified (class B).

What happened

At 8:23 one morning, the witness noticed a large, dark object in the sky. It moved silently and at a steady speed. There is no photograph and no other witness: the object had flown over a densely populated area during rush hour, yet no other account was collected.

The investigation showed that the object's speed and direction of travel could match the wind blowing that day at that time. GEIPAN considered the account precise and fairly consistent, but it comes from a single person. The observation is moderately strange. Some features of the movement are consistent with a passive object carried by the wind, and it could be an object behaving in an ordinary way. The case is classed B: it was probably a piece of flying debris carried by the wind.
