Sighting in Courdimanche, 2005

Val-d'Oise, Île-de-France, France

Sighting in 2005 in Courdimanche (Val-d'Oise, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

In 2005, at around 10 p.m., the witness, who could not recall the exact date, was about to close the roof window of their bedroom. The sky was clear. They were surprised to see a luminous object cross the sky at very high speed.

The object was spherical and slightly yellowish, and it travelled from the northwest toward the southeast. The witness estimated its altitude at about 3,000 m. They heard no sound. The object seemed to be surrounded by a halo. The sighting lasted less than 3 seconds.

GEIPAN classified the case as C, meaning there was insufficient data. The description suggests a possible atmospheric re-entry, but information about the phenomenon observed was lacking. The conclusion recorded was a very rapid passage of a point of light in front of the window.
