Sighting in Drancy, January 16, 1978

Seine-Saint-Denis, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on January 16, 1978 in Drancy (Seine-Saint-Denis, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 6:10 p.m., two witnesses watched a luminous phenomenon for about a minute. It looked circular and was a phosphorescent yellowish-white. It crossed the sky from north to south at very high speed, following a straight path.

As it moved, the witnesses noticed that the object was actually cylindrical in shape. They first saw a red light, then a bright green light at the front. They heard no sound, and the phenomenon left a luminous trail behind it.

No other witness account was collected. GEIPAN concluded that the witnesses had observed the passage of a luminous phenomenon, but because of the lack of information the case is classified C (insufficient data).
