Sighting in Fréjus, June 18, 2025

Var, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

Sighting on June 18, 2025 in Fréjus (Var, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a drone (class B).

What happened

During the night of 17 to 18 June 2025, a witness was at home when they noticed a motionless object in the sky, ringed with blue lights. The object was elongated and gave off a bright light. It then moved in several directions, alternating climbs and descents, bursts of high speed and stops. Towards the end of the sighting, the lights turned white and blue, and the phenomenon then disappeared high in the sky after several minutes. The witness heard no noise. Three people saw the phenomenon, but only one account was collected. There is no photo or video, and the time of the sighting is imprecise.

GEIPAN rated the case's consistency as medium. The strangeness came mainly from the many movements: erratic changes of direction and phases of instantaneous speed with no apparent acceleration. The investigation pointed towards a recreational drone. The case is classified B (probably identified): the object was most likely a drone.
