Val-d'Oise, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on July 28, 1979 in Herblay (Val-d'Oise, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Around midnight, during the night of 27 to 28 July 1979, the witness was woken by an unusual light in their bedroom. Looking out of the window, they saw a bright white ball. It moved very slowly from the northwest toward the northeast and made no noise at all. It looked bigger than the Moon. It then disappeared from view, hidden by the buildings.

No other witness account was gathered for this phenomenon. GEIPAN classified the case as C, meaning there was not enough data: the investigation could only record the sighting of a slow, silent ball.
