Sighting in Ivry-le-Temple, December 11, 2014

Oise, Hauts-de-France, France

Sighting on December 11, 2014 in Ivry-le-Temple (Oise, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At 3:35 a.m., as the witness was closing a window, they noticed three points of light in the sky, spaced at equal distances from one another. This regularity intrigued them and reminded them of a particular kind of sighting. Frightened, the witness did not dare look at the sky again until about 3:50 a.m., by which time the lights had gone. No other witness account was recorded.

The investigation rated the case low in both strangeness and consistency. A mistaken identification of the three stars of the Orion's Belt asterism is possible. However, the precise direction of observation and the angular spacing between the lights were not known, and the witness's fear at the time further limited what could be learned, so the case could not be usefully analysed. GEIPAN classified it C, unidentifiable for lack of sufficient data, although a confusion with the stars of Orion's Belt remains possible.
