Sighting in Janvry, October 27, 2007

Essonne, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on October 27, 2007 in Janvry (Essonne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 11 p.m., a motorist saw a luminous phenomenon race across the sky toward the northeast, leaving behind a lingering trail of smoke. The sky was clear, with just a few high clouds. The sighting lasted only one to two seconds. The witness concluded that it might have been a meteorite. No other testimony was collected.

The investigation found that the witness's impression was probably correct, but the description was too brief to confirm it. It also contained nothing very strange. GEIPAN therefore classified the case as C, because of a lack of reliable information.
