Sighting in La Garenne-Colombes, August 21, 2010

Hauts-de-Seine, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on August 21, 2010 in La Garenne-Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a light from the ground (searchlight, laser, vehicle…) (class B).

What happened

At around 11:30 pm, three witnesses were on the terrace of their apartment when they noticed three balls of light moving quickly across a cloudy sky. The phenomenon then vanished abruptly.

GEIPAN classified the case as B, meaning probably identified. The case showed little strangeness, and the accounts gave no indication of direction or elevation, which limited the consistency of the data. The exact origin therefore could not be established with certainty. It was most likely a discotheque lighting system with multiple beams, that is, a light show projected onto the clouds.

Account rewritten by SkyUnknown from the investigation report published by GEIPAN (CNES). The original text and case documents are on the official record.
