Sighting in Lagny-sur-Marne, April 16, 2008

Seine-et-Marne, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on April 16, 2008 in Lagny-sur-Marne (Seine-et-Marne, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was a light from the ground (searchlight, laser, vehicle…) (class A).

What happened

A witness noticed a yellow-orange light between two house roofs, to the south-west, appearing as brief flashes. The flashes recurred every two or three minutes within a small area. The observation lasted roughly from 9:45 pm to 11 pm, and the puzzled witness watched the phenomenon throughout that time.

The investigation rated the strangeness as low and the consistency as medium: there was only one witness, but their account was precise and detailed. It was definitely a misidentification: vehicle headlights were reflecting off an antenna on a neighbouring house. The witness themselves supplied this explanation after making a similar observation at a later date. The case was classified A.
