Sighting in Maisons-Alfort, April 22, 2015

Val-de-Marne, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on April 22, 2015 in Maisons-Alfort (Val-de-Marne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 1:20 or 1:30 in the morning, two people briefly saw an object pass across a clear sky. Its shape could have been triangular or round. It carried three white LEDs and a green light at its centre. The witnesses heard no particular sound and saw no trail or halo. The object followed a curved, descending path. Only one witness account was collected.

The sighting lasted less than 3 seconds and took place through a window pane. A triangle formed by three points of light is unusual, but reliable information is scarce. GEIPAN would have liked to investigate on site, but the witness is a minor and the parents' consent, which is required, could not be obtained.

GEIPAN considered two hypotheses: a drone flight, or the reflection in the window glass of a light inside the room, held by one of the witness's guests. Without an on-site investigation, neither could be verified. The case was classified C because reliable information and cross-checking were lacking.
