Sighting in Melun, February 17, 1980

Seine-et-Marne, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on February 17, 1980 in Melun (Seine-et-Marne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

The witness reported seeing white balls on three occasions since the start of 1980. Each time, the balls seemed to follow their vehicle while they were driving at night. When they vanished, they could leave a white trail behind. On another occasion the witness was with their friend, and the two of them saw a ball near a dwelling.

The witness also described meeting an entity in their vehicle. It told them it had contacted them three times before and warned them of an invasion of the Earth. They described it as a tall, handsome man with blue eyes and long hair. The witness spoke of half an hour of memory loss, and arrived at their parents' home in a state of shock. They were taken back to their own home, and a doctor noted their condition the following day.

The investigation found no other witness and gathered no further information about these phenomena that would lend credibility to the account. The case is classed C, meaning insufficient data, and GEIPAN describes it as an observation of luminous balls and a close encounter of the third kind.
