What happened

A group of people noticed a bright point of light moving in an unusual way late in the evening. The sighting lasted about 45 seconds. The point followed a north-south path, advancing in jerks, and its brightness was similar to that of a satellite.

It then stopped for several seconds, and its brightness increased while it was stationary. After that it set off again quickly and disappeared at the horizon.
