Sighting in Neuilly-sur-Marne, August 26, 2025

Seine-Saint-Denis, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on August 26, 2025 in Neuilly-sur-Marne (Seine-Saint-Denis, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was a light from the ground (searchlight, laser, vehicle…) (class A).

What happened

One evening in August, starting at 21:17, a witness at home looked east and saw several luminous phenomena in the sky. Their spouse, and later a neighbor, joined them, and the observation lasted almost two hours. The witness first saw two halos of light tracing circles at the base of the clouds. Then, at intervals, a faintly glowing bluish sphere appeared, followed by an inverted-cone beam that seemed to switch on briefly in a vertical line. Finally, several parts of the sky lit up, first in bluish tones and then reddish. It all happened silently, in a small area of the sky. The witness made several videos and called the police.

What struck the witness was that the lights seemed to act on their own, moved in circles across the cloud cover, had no visible beam linking the ground to the light sources, and produced a succession of varied effects over the evening. The witness therefore ruled out ordinary searchlights or drones.

The investigation concluded that this was an indirect view of the "Disney Tales of Magic" night show at Disneyland Paris. The show was indeed running at that time, around Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street, with powerful lighting, projections, lasers, pyrotechnics and, at that time, drones. The direction used, between 75° and 95°, matches the direction of the site from the observation point. The halos came from the show's spotlights scattering off the clouds, the cone from beams concentrated on the castle, and the bluish and reddish glows from the finale's pyrotechnic effects. The view was very partial: from a distance, between houses, under a heavily clouded sky, with the effects seen on the clouds rather than at their source on the ground. GEIPAN classified the case as A. The file's consistency is good but not maximal: the questionnaire is detailed and the videos usable, but only one witness formalized a statement, although two others were mentioned.
