Sighting in Osny, March 15, 2014

Val-d'Oise, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on March 15, 2014 in Osny (Val-d'Oise, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

On a Saturday evening, shortly before midnight, a witness saw two identical, very large objects pass one after the other over the roof of a supermarket, without making any sound. The witness described blue balls, each about the size of a football, spaced three or four metres apart along the base of each object.

The first object followed a straight path. The second climbed and changed direction. Both disappeared within a few seconds, each heading a different way. The whole observation lasted three minutes. Only one account was collected. It came with a sketch of what the witness had seen, but no photograph.

GEIPAN classified the case as C, insufficient data. The investigation lacked the number of phenomena in each formation, their positions relative to one another, any angular measurements, a precise attribution of colours, and details on the object described as a "big Boeing" compared with the blue balls. The nightclub laser hypothesis could not be checked, as it is not known whether the establishment in question used such equipment that evening. The testimony has low consistency, since it comes from a single witness, and the observation is not very strange, as it could involve perfectly ordinary objects.
