Sighting in Paris, March 26, 2007

Île-de-France, France

What happened

The GEIPAN received an email from a witness almost a year after the event, with two photographs of a luminous ball. It had been seen in the Paris sky on the evening of 26 March 2007. One of the photos was a long exposure.

The investigation found the testimony weak: it was written several months after the event, remains rather confused and unreliable, although the witness was most likely sincere. The long-exposure photo is hard to interpret, since it is impossible to tell whether the blur comes from the object or from the camera. The phenomenon itself is not very strange: it was only a point of light whose movement is poorly described, both by the witness and by the photograph. The reported change of shape seems more unusual, but it may be explained by a change in position.

Because reliable information was lacking, the GEIPAN classified the case as C, insufficient data.
