Sighting in Paris, May 23, 2010

Île-de-France, France

Sighting on May 23, 2010, exact location not given (département: Paris, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 10:35 p.m. on a Sunday evening, a witness standing on their balcony on the sixth floor noticed an unusual object in the Paris sky. The object "twirled" about without making any noise and without any lights. The witness spotted it again at 10:41 p.m. No other testimony was collected.

According to the investigation, the whirling shape described is hard to reconcile with a balloon. A visual disturbance (a phosphene or a floater) remains possible, though it cannot be proven. The case was rated as having low to medium strangeness, but its consistency was insufficient because of meteorological inconsistencies that were noted. With no independent witnesses or cross-checking, and no additional data, GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion and classified the case as C, insufficient data.
