Sighting in Paris, June 26, 2010

Île-de-France, France

Sighting on June 26, 2010, exact location not given (département: Paris, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 1 a.m., on the night from Friday to Saturday, eight people watched a very bright orange ball in the Paris sky. It moved silently at low altitude and at a steady speed. It then suddenly dropped in altitude, and its brightness fell sharply at the same time.

Only one account reached GEIPAN. The case showed little strangeness and little consistency, as there were no independent witness reports. The investigation could not reach a conclusion, although a flying lantern remained a strong possibility. No cross-checking was available to confirm or rule out that hypothesis, so the case was classified C, for insufficient data.
