Sighting in Roquebrune-sur-Argens, September 14, 2025
Var, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France
Sighting on September 14, 2025 in Roquebrune-sur-Argens (Var, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was an aircraft (plane, helicopter…) (class A).
What happened
Three witnesses, at home, saw points of light appear and disappear at intervals in different parts of the sky. One of them filmed the phenomenon during their last sighting, at around 8:08 pm. The lights were white, very bright and motionless, low above the horizon, and each sighting lasted only a few moments.
GEIPAN considered the case solid, with three witnesses and a video of the phenomenon. The investigation relied on a detailed reconstruction of air traffic: the position of the lights matched that of two aircraft heading toward the witnesses at that moment. The planes were on final approach to Nice airport with their landing lights on. The sightings were therefore landing lights of aircraft, which greatly reduces the strangeness the witnesses had perceived. The case is classified A, identified.
