Sighting in Saint-Fiacre, November 1, 1981

Seine-et-Marne, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on November 1, 1981 in Saint-Fiacre (Seine-et-Marne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Several people travelling in a vehicle noticed an object about a hundred metres away, hanging motionless some thirty metres above a field. They were driving at walking pace, which let them make out a hemispherical shape and a fluorescent colour. At the lower right, a spotlight pointed at the ground gave off an intermittent white light. A kind of heat haze blurred the outline of the craft.

The witnesses then dropped one of the passengers off at home and drove back along the same field, where the object was no longer there.

The investigation found no traces on the ground and no other witnesses to the phenomenon. Because the data were insufficient, the GEIPAN classified the case as C: it was the sighting of a very bright craft, and nothing more could be established.
