Sighting in Saint-Gratien, September 11, 1983

Val-d'Oise, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on September 11, 1983 in Saint-Gratien (Val-d'Oise, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Between 2:00 and 2:30 in the night, a witness noticed an unusual light phenomenon above their house and the neighbouring houses. Cylindrical beams of light, about one metre across, strongly lit up the dwellings. The witness counted eight of them. They stayed fixed in place, had a slightly yellow colour, and were spaced three to four metres apart. Gradually, they faded away into the clouds.

The investigation gathered no further information about the phenomenon. GEIPAN classified the case as C, insufficient data: it involved several light beams above a house, and nothing more could be established.
