Sighting in Sarcelles, December 16, 1980

Val-d'Oise, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on December 16, 1980 in Sarcelles (Val-d'Oise, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 11 a.m., under a clear sky, a witness noticed a round object they could not identify. It had a pyramid-shaped antenna on top and a metallic color, and at times it dazzled the witness. A pale yellow halo surrounded it.

The object moved toward the east, alternately rising and descending. After 4 minutes of observation, it gradually vanished altogether toward the south.

The gendarmerie collected no other testimony about the phenomenon. Because of the lack of information, the GEIPAN classified the case as C (insufficient data): the report describes a round flying object with up-and-down movements, and nothing more can be established.
