Sighting in Taverny, August 7, 1980

Val-d'Oise, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on August 7, 1980 in Taverny (Val-d'Oise, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Several witnesses saw a yellow-orange luminous phenomenon pass over a radio relay station at the F.N.S base, first at around 9:40 pm and again at around 10:45 pm on the same evening. Both times it moved at very high speed while climbing in altitude. The witnesses noticed no sound.

A check at the site found no marks on the vegetation. No other witness account of the phenomenon was collected.

GEIPAN concluded that the witnesses had observed a silent luminous phenomenon moving rapidly. Because there was not enough information to go further, the case was classified C (insufficient data).
