Sighting in Toury, July 27, 2012

Eure-et-Loir, Centre-Val de Loire, France

Sighting on July 27, 2012 in Toury (Eure-et-Loir, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 3:30 in the morning, a witness saw orange lights cross the sky twice, quickly and without a sound. Together, the lights formed a triangular shape. On the first pass they travelled from west to east, and on the second from east to west. No other testimony was collected, and there was no photograph.

The GEIPAN investigation noted that a number of details were missing: the azimuths and angular heights at which the lights appeared and vanished, the number of objects in each formation, their positions relative to one another, and any angular measurements of either the formations or the individual objects. The account was judged to have rather low consistency, since it came from a single witness, with no photo, and lacked important elements for assessment. The observation was rated moderately strange: the shapes were unusual, but the movement was in a straight line and the phenomenon was distant.

Because of this lack of information, no hypothesis could be favoured. The case was classified C: a phenomenon that cannot be identified as it stands, with too little data to reach a firm opinion.
