Sighting in Yerres, December 8, 1983

Essonne, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on December 8, 1983 in Yerres (Essonne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At 11:27 pm, a witness heard a whistling sound similar to the one a glider makes in flight. They then saw, for five to six seconds, a spherical object that was bluish-white and very bright, moving horizontally. A long trail of orange flames followed it. The object then disappeared into the landscape.

No further information about the phenomenon was gathered. Because the data were insufficient, GEIPAN classified the case as C: the investigation records only the sighting of a spherical object accompanied by a whistling sound, with no explanation established.
