Sighting in Antran, August 29, 2024
Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France
Sighting on August 29, 2024 in Antran (Vienne, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was a light from the ground (searchlight, laser, vehicle…) (class A).
What happened
At around 10:40 p.m., two witnesses standing in the yard of their property noticed a series of bright points of light moving quickly across a sky with few clouds. The points travelled in pairs along two parallel paths which, because of perspective, seemed to converge toward the horizon. The observation lasted a long time. The two witnesses gave a single but complete account, with no photo or video to support it.
The GEIPAN rated the case as low in strangeness and of medium consistency. The investigation showed that the witnesses had seen the glow of the Futuroscope night show "La Clé des Songes". The lights, projected from Poitiers, were reflected off the cloud layer above Antran. The case is classified A: identified phenomenon.
