Sighting in Bou, September 17, 2021

Loiret, Centre-Val de Loire, France

Sighting on September 17, 2021 in Bou (Loiret, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 4 a.m., the witness was standing at the edge of a beach on the Loire when they noticed a motionless luminous sphere in the sky that seemed to be growing larger. In their own words, it was not a ball in the strict sense: it looked more like two golden crescent moons set back to back, with the outline of the sphere less bright, similar to an eclipse.

The phenomenon then appeared to shrink until it was just a plain golden sphere. At its largest, its diameter was estimated at 3 to 4 times that of the sun, with no noticeable increase in the ambient light.

GEIPAN followed up with the witness several times to get the technical questionnaire completed, but received no reply. Without key data, no in-depth analysis was possible. The case is classified C: the investigation was abandoned for lack of information.
