Sighting in Carcans, September 27, 2011

Gironde, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting on September 27, 2011 in Carcans (Gironde, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 10:10 p.m., a witness standing on their terrace noticed a point of light to the east that stayed fixed in place. About ten minutes later, a light suddenly appeared at treetop level, which puzzled the witness. It then climbed into the sky along a slanting path at a steady speed.

GEIPAN considered the case to be of low strangeness, with medium to low consistency. None of the usual hypotheses could be confirmed as the explanation, although some of them fit the description. The information available was not enough to firm up these hypotheses, so the case was classed C, for insufficient data.
