What happened

A motorist saw a flaming object fall at high speed at around 7:45 in the morning, in late December. The phenomenon made no sound and lasted only about three seconds. The object was blue and yellow. A second witness reported having seen the same thing.

After examining the description given by the two witnesses, GEIPAN settled on the hypothesis of an atmospheric re-entry. The case was classified B, meaning probably identified: a probable observation of an atmospheric re-entry.
