UFO sightings in the 1990s: 1,353 reports

SkyUnknown lists 1,353 UFO sightings in the 1990s worldwide, drawn from official records: Ministry of Defence (UK) for 912 cases, GEIPAN (CNES) for 324, Aeronautica Militare (Italie) for 110, and PURSUE (gouvernement des États-Unis) for 7. The busiest year was 1997, with 491 cases.

Of the 441 cases with a conclusion from their source, 39% are explained (with certainty or probably), 29% lack the data to conclude, and 140 remain unidentified. The most frequent identified causes: ground lights and lasers (21); aircraft (15); re-entries (10).

For the other 912 cases, the source gives no conclusion: the UK Ministry of Defence published witness reports without investigation.

Most frequently named places: Hull (10), Edinburgh (10), Royaume-Uni (7), Brighton (6), and Scunthorpe (6).
