Sighting in Chalifert, May 2, 2009

Seine-et-Marne, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on May 2, 2009 in Chalifert (Seine-et-Marne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Between 11 p.m. and midnight, a witness was in their garden when several craft flew past quickly at very low altitude. They were showing white and red lights. The source gives no precise shape, duration or direction for the passage.

The GEIPAN asked the witness to complete a Questionnaire Terrestre (a ground-observation questionnaire) and to file their account with the gendarmerie, but no further document was ever received. The case therefore rests on a single witness, with no detailed questionnaire and no photos or video. The investigation considered the strangeness of the case fairly low, as was its consistency. With so little information, reaching a conclusion was very difficult, and the case was classified C because of insufficient data.

Account rewritten by SkyUnknown from the investigation report published by GEIPAN (CNES). The original text and case documents are on the official record.
