Sighting in Chécy, March 15, 2010

Loiret, Centre-Val de Loire, France

Sighting on March 15, 2010 in Chécy (Loiret, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a sky lantern (class B).

What happened

Between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m., a witness saw about ten glowing orange balls cross the sky. They moved together in a wave-like formation, at a steady pace, for several minutes before disappearing.

According to GEIPAN, the features of this formation match a known phenomenon and show nothing strange. The sighting was attributed, with enough confidence for a B classification (probably identified), to the passage of flying lanterns, that is, Thai lanterns.
