Sighting in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, November 29, 2016

Yvelines, Île-de-France, France

Sighting on November 29, 2016 in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was a reflection or photographic artefact (class A).

What happened

Around twenty past midnight, a person got up and was intrigued by what they could see through their bathroom window. They saw a twinkling light that grew larger and then smaller, along with a hexagonal object that shimmered in changing colors, positioned above a neighbor's field.

The sighting lasted about twenty minutes, during which the witness took a few photos and videos. Frightened, the witness woke their husband and then went back to bed.

Analysis of the video made it possible to place the lights on the glass bricks of the bathroom. It showed, beyond any doubt, that what the witness had seen came from a light source being distorted by those wavy glass bricks. The light source itself was never identified, but this was not considered necessary, since the strange appearance came from the bricks and not from the light itself. GEIPAN therefore classified the case as A: observation of the reflection of an outside light.
