Sighting in Dannemarie, October 8, 1985

Haut-Rhin, Grand Est, France

Sighting on October 8, 1985 in Dannemarie (Haut-Rhin, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Early in the evening, during stormy weather with lightning, several witnesses noticed unusual lights. One of them saw two blinding beams of light four times in a row. The source seemed to be about one kilometre from their home, above a cluster of trees, with the two beams lined up along a straight line.

Two other witnesses saw red, blue and white lights appear three times in succession.

No further information could be gathered about these observations. GEIPAN classed the case as C, meaning there was not enough data. Its conclusion pointed to two large floodlights giving off a very powerful white light.
