Sighting in Dombasle-sur-Meurthe, May 10, 2008

Meurthe-et-Moselle, Grand Est, France

Sighting on May 10, 2008 in Dombasle-sur-Meurthe (Meurthe-et-Moselle, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At about 11 p.m., a witness standing in their garden noticed a red object in a clear, starry sky. It was moving quickly across the sky, from the south toward the west. The witness went indoors to fetch a camera. By the time they returned, the object had vanished, but they took a photograph anyway. The next day, looking at the picture, they saw a white object near a star.

The case rests on a single witness. The information they provided seemed contradictory and lacked detail: they made no statement to the gendarmerie and did not complete an observation questionnaire. The investigation therefore remained difficult and no conclusion could be reached. GEIPAN classified the case as C, meaning insufficient data.
