Sighting in Donchery, September 1979

Ardennes, Grand Est, France

Sighting in September 1979 in Donchery (Ardennes, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Throughout September 1979 and up to 4 October, a witness and their spouse repeatedly noticed points of light in the sky that puzzled them. The lights could be seen when the sky was clear, between 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. They were red, green and white, and they blinked. Taken together, they looked like a ball.

Gendarmes who were on night duty on several occasions saw nothing similar. No other witness account was gathered about the phenomenon.

The GEIPAN classified the case as C: there is too little information to determine what the witnesses saw.
