Val-de-Marne, Île-de-France, France
Sighting on June 7, 2009 in Fontenay-sous-Bois (Val-de-Marne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).
What happened
The main witness, with their family present, saw a bright sphere with a metallic look go by. It moved slowly and without any noise. The witness put its speed at around 10 km/h, like a weather balloon or something similar.
The sighting was only reported to GEIPAN in February 2011, long after it happened. The witness's account is not called into question, but because the phenomenon was slow and the report came so late, no checks could be made after the fact. The file contains no police or gendarmerie report, no photo and no other visual or physical evidence. The case was classified C (insufficient data) because no investigation was possible.
