Sighting in France, October 20, 1979

Sighting on October 20, 1979, exact location not given (France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Several people in the Vosges and the Haut-Rhin noticed a luminous phenomenon in the sky that flashed on and off at irregular intervals. The object was spherical. It seemed to move in a zigzag path, and the witnesses heard no noise. According to the report, witnesses had already observed a similar phenomenon one year earlier.

The GEIPAN classified the case as C, because there was not enough information to propose an explanation. All it retains is that the observations describe the silent movement of a spherical, flashing object.
