Sighting in Guénange, February 21, 1982

Moselle, Grand Est, France

Sighting on February 21, 1982 in Guénange (Moselle, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 6:15 a.m., two witnesses noticed a luminous phenomenon in the sky: a bright red point that moved slowly toward the south. Another witness had already made the same observation in January 1981 and again in January 1982.

The description suggests an astronomical sighting, but this hypothesis could not be checked because of a lack of information. GEIPAN therefore classified the case as C, insufficient data: it was the slow movement of a large ball, and the information needed to go further was missing.
