Sighting on January 3, 1957 in Hadjout (Algeria). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a meteor or fireball (class B).

What happened

Three witnesses who were in flight south of Marengo (now Hadjout, Algeria) saw a luminous object at 20:22 UT. It remained visible for about 15 seconds and left a trail behind it, first green and then red. It crossed the sky from southwest to northeast along a steady, descending path.

Only one account was collected. GEIPAN classified the case as B (probably identified), the event most likely being the passage of a meteoroid.
