Var, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

Sighting on February 19, 1982 in La Crau (Var, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 6:30 p.m., two witnesses noticed a very bright point of light in the sky that did not move. It looked much larger than the evening star. Close to it was a cylinder, also stationary, which seemed to give off a cold, dull light. The witnesses heard no noise during the observation, which lasted about four minutes. As they moved, both objects disappeared into the landscape.

No other information was gathered. GEIPAN classified the case as C, insufficient data: the investigation was limited to the observation of two luminous objects, with no explanation established.
